The Most Expensive Garmin Watch

Because of running, I was vain enough to buy a very expensive watch.  It has the features many runners love.  Distance, pace, GPS, heart rate, map views and a lot more.  I used the money I earned from making ambigrams.

Before I have to buy it online. I first bought a Garmin Forerunner 405 in eBay for 305USD. It was broken after six months. I had it refurbished in the US and paid 80USD.  If converted to pesos, I bought my Garmin 405 at about 15,000Php. The Garmin 310XT is about 350USD which is about 18,000Php.

And where can you buy Garmin watches in the Philippines?

While checking out gadget at Parksquare Makati, I found a Garmin 301XT on display early this year. Guess how much they are selling it…

Can you see the price at the upper right of the box?

It was at 35,000Php or 700USD!!! The most expensive Garmin watch ever! It’s twice the US retail price. I understand that there are shipping, handling and taxes involved but this is too much. I wonder if someone bought it already.

Fortunately, there are cheaper options if you wish to buy a Garmin Forerunner watch in the Philippines. First, there are online sellers in several forum sites like and even in Multiply Shops. Online sellers have their prices very close to the US retail price.  Navco is an official distributor of Garmin products in the Philippines. Their prices are higher than online sellers but they are following the same price set for Asian markets. It’s still much lower than the 35,000Php.

I got my Garmin Forerunner 305 from Amazon for only 168USD; shipping via Johnny Air reached only 1500PhP — setting me back around 9,500PHP.

Local retailers can easily cash in on the running boom only if their prizes are competitive with that of online stores. In this day and age of e-commerce, charging unreasonably would get you nowhere!

  2. Hmmm…Was thinking of getting my 310XT from amazon. But after reading this…afraid! so tempting though coz it’s cheaper. I guess as long as there’s warranty, it should be ok to purchase it online.

Just got my 310xt as well. Navco sells the watches at p24k with manufacturer’s warranty.. what i can recommend to beginners is the new Forerunner 110, available both for male and female. Its a lot cheaper at p13+k. Navco dealers i think include second wind and ROX
